
Bateman's, home of Rudyard Kipling
This beautiful 17th century house was the home of Rudyard Kipling from 1902 - 1936. Most of the rooms are as he left them, including his book-lined study.The delightful grounds run down to the small River Dudwell with its working watermill, and contains roses, wild flowers, fruit and herbs. Kipling's Rolls Royce is on display near the Tearoom, which offers a selection of hot and cold meals as well as cream teas. An extensive range of new and second hand Kipling books is available in the Gift Shop.
Events held throughout the year. Open 14 March - 1 November, Saturday to Wednesday, 11 - 5pm. Last admission 4.30pm.
